How the search works

01 · Physical AI

Most AI works with words and images. Ours works with forces, heat and magnetic fields.

Physical AI is AI that deals with the physical world. Its best-known form is machines that act in it, like robots and self-driving cars, trained largely in simulation because reality cannot supply enough data. We take that route to a different end. Instead of teaching a machine how to move, we automate the work that designs the machine itself. That work is topology optimization: a search for the shape of a part, run by the computer instead of drawn by a person.

Until now a part could only be as good as the shapes someone had time to draw. Everything else that was possible was never rejected. It was never looked at.

Two things lifted that limit: we generate the training data ourselves, in any amount, and the search runs without a person steering it.

Data trains the models. Models make the search fast. The search finds shapes nobody drew. Every search feeds the next.

How hardware is designed today

Engineering simulation software answers one question at a time. Bring a shape, get a score. These are the CAE and FEM tools every hardware team runs. Someone draws, waits, adjusts, and repeats until the calendar runs out.

What we are building

We think turning the question around that way rebuilds this software from the ground up rather than just making it faster.

Together they are most of what converts or carries electrical power. None of them can be designed by looking at one kind of physics alone. A motor is magnetic, thermal and mechanical at the same time. So this is one platform, not four separate tools. Motors come first. They are where the founders’ research is, and the hardest of the four. For simple solid parts the same kind of search has been sold as a product for a decade.
